Quiet Hooves are a massive band, filling up a whole stage with strummers, whoopers, pounders, and bangers. If you stand on your tiptoes at the back of the room, they look like they are whizzing around in a beehive, switching time signatures every measure and flinging the songs out to the audience with a brightly melodic ferocity. Their new album is a two parter, Stallin' & Saddle Up. The first eight tracks are the Stallin' portion, and they are (slightly) more relaxed than the latter 10, aka Saddle Up. You can listen to the whole thing below or on Bandcamp and buy it on vinyl through the same.
To celebrate the release – or maybe just because they feel like getting out of town for a while – Quiet Hooves are embarking on a national tour of grand proportions, swinging around the country and spending eight days in Austin at SXSW. They've also released this little video, called "XY Pump N' Stuff", which is animated, childlike drawings of morphing genitalia and colorful dots.
Here's the video, followed by the album stream, followed by the tour dates.
