Much like the good people at Obstructive Vibrations, I struggled with catagorizing Raleigh Moncrief. He treats his bugged out beats like E.T., stashed in his bedroom amidst his stuffed animals. Moncrief likes his drums crunchy with a hint of glitch. His beats tend to stutter, but maintain a hip hop foundation. My favorite description by OV for the Combed Over Chrome EP is "trans-genred audio collages" -- I imagine an eight-armed alien operating a staircase of sythesizers, while causually keeping his drum beats. Also, the sex of the alien is ambiguous.
