Shortcircles' Deep Bedroom Mix

In two productive years Matthew Tammariello, operating as Shortcircles, grew from crafting free EPs of blissed out hip hop with a believer and mentor in Glenn Jackson, to masterminding texturally explorative productions reminiscent of heavy weights like, but not limited to, Bonobo or DJ Shadow. Next week he releases Between Waves on Plug Research, a record that harkens back to a pre-chilwave era. The difference is Tammariello is journeying back with the knowledge of the missteps by those before him. His uncanny ability to arrange arpeggiated synths, sax solos, and other various live instrumentation gives Between Waves a significant edge. Shortcircles' LP is the reward for waiting on the outskirts for the high tide to settle and the tourists to dissipate.

No stranger to waiting, Tammariello's mix is dedicated to delayed flights and layover boredom. Tammariello explains his “Deep Bedroom Mix”:

I do most of my music “catch up” in airports where I really get a chance to zone out in a somewhat fragmentary environment. Each of these songs were on repeat last time I was at the airport and they all transitioned into lonely bedroom listening sessions pretty well. All of the silly vocal snippets between songs are from a record I bought when I was 15. I've been wanting to use them ever since, but never had the lack of judgement to do so.
