Something about Booka Shade at Lollapalooza just didn't work. Oh right - that's because German electrohouse is meant to be played at 1 AM for throngs of twentysomethings in various altered states. As Walter Merzinger and Arno Kammermeier showed, even they can only count to four.
Note: just because they are are a European, electronic house duo, for the love of god, do not compare to Daft Punk.

Um. I thought the show was awesome. That said, it was a freaking rave, and I'm trying to cover as much as I can. Forgive me for not writing a novel about it.

What is it that you are trying to say? You failed to write any thoughtful, valid opinions or even details about the show, which I did see last night, I'm in the front row. Suffice to say that it was an excellent performance put on, not only by Booka Shade, but all of the other performers as well. And what exactly didn't work out about Booka Shade's performance at Lollapalooza 2008? If you actually saw it as I did you would know that they instantly took over the crowd and for that hour or so long set, no matter what subculture or style you were (Goth, Punk, Bro, Hip-hopper), everyone was dancing freely and uninhibited like a veteran raver, with the hot Chicago Sun beaming down AND considerably less alcohol (drugs about the same). One thing I've noticed about Booka Shade is that they empathize with their crowd. They're dancing with you, screaming with you; hell, maybe they're even rolling with you. They reflect the crowd's excitement, enthusiasm and pleasure in their sound. So, if Booka Shade really played a sorry show last night, then the crowd must have been pretty stupid to go that crazy, right? Maybe you should have been watching the show instead of writing down on your notebook (a tape recorder would have proven useless). That is... if you took any notes. -Ad8
