The thing that - at the time - annoyed me about Friday's Red Stripe-sponsored non-party was that the music was so perfectly palatable. This is probably owed a fair amount to the noise-pop, noise-rock, and noise-punk I spent the majority of SXSW covering. The Howlies are blues-rockers who obviously know what they're doing. But they weren't what I was there to see... and they weren't what other people were there to see either, apparently.
