The Procedure Club, “Feel Sorry For Me”

New Haven is kind of the second or third-to-last place in America that you'd imagine glistening dream pop to emerge, beat out perhaps by Phoenix, Arizona and Jones Beach Amphitheater, but that didn't stop Adam Malec and the anti-surnamed Andrea from issuing a gorgeous 7-inch last year on Sixteen Tambourines and gathering up a full length's worth of material for Slumberland Records called Doomed Forever and out next week.

You can hear how this kind of thing could quickly bark up the same
trees where Dum Dum Girls and Vivian Girls before them have carved out their
homes, but The Procedure Club isn't quite as strict on the no boys or
drum machines allowed rules. Enter their unique balance of doo-wop
meets triple-layered shoegaze.

Here's a glimpse of the lead off track, “Feel Sorry For Me”, which pans in on the wacked-out drum factory that continues to quake beneath the mix, mashing together beats and warping the time space continuum under Malec's sturdy wall of guitars and Andrea's steady, opiated melodies sung at the bottom of a 12-foot deep indoor pool.
