Topaz Rags, Capricorn Born Again

In a way, Topaz Rags is another permutation of Britt and Amanda Brown's Pocahaunted. On the other hand, they are a zombie blues trio bent on destroying rock and roll through the power of pouty downer ballads.

On these two gorgeous tracks off their new LP Capricorn Born Again, they're like a west coast White Magic, loping mid-tempo and driven solely by the melancholic taste of minimal piano melodies and percussive thumps beneath a gruff bass line, all bowing and beholden to Amanda Brown and Ash Cunningham's six-part vocal delay call and response.
