Zola Jesus is your new homeboy

Zola Jesus, noisy bedpop provocateur, earns a spot in our doughy hearts.

Ms. Zola Jesus is already riding the darling wave to the cool kids' cold hearts, but in the new tradition of girls making gauzy noise with a breezy ability to both terrorize and anesthetize, she's also perhaps the most stunningly consistent. There's a very 21st century quality to the crackling attack of U.S. Girls, Tickley Feather, or Inca Ore, and Tsar Bomba EP, which came out about a month ago, is very much a kin (if not the most precocious sister) to the solo feedback snarl of the other girls in the bedroom. Buy the EP.

Yeah, I'm really hearing the Inca Ore comparison as well. A bunch of her old stuff is on Pukekos.
