The 241ers, a group composed of former members of the Stockyard Stoics and the Filaments, opened as any self-respecting band ought to by quickly filling us in on the recent good news regarding one of our “heroes,” in this case Travis Barker, and his recent burns. Following the 241ers, Alison Greenfield played an impromptu acoustic guitar set, which wasn’t very good, but since she usually plays keyboard with a full band, I can’t be too harsh.  The New York Howl arrived late and cut their set short because of a bad amp, and even during their performance, the crowd was pretty complacent until the band asked everyone to get out of their chairs and start dancing, which they did. By Nanuchka’s set, which was great as always, everyone was moving.

Eric Peterson also arrived late and because this was a matinee and a night show was booked with a rigid 9pm starting time, he couldn’t play for very long. When you’ve seen a band enough times, and know that they almost always put on a good show, you judge them by a different set of criteria than other bands. When Eric Peterson’s late, you get the feeling that he’s actually sorry, or if he’s sick, (like he was on Sunday), he’ll still play your favorite songs as loud as ever. While the crowd may not have been the liveliest I’ve seen at an Eric Peterson show (unlike times where every kid knows every lyric to every song), the guy still gave it his all.
