Listen: Royce da 5′9″, Culture VI, grumbling

[Royce, before shit hit the fan.]
Yet another signpost in the slow death march of one hip hop generation bitter to relinquish its relevance to the young’ns, here’s Royce da 5′9″ and Culture VI in “Never Had A Clue”, a track that will be on Culture’s upcoming sophomore LP, Ninety-Four.
Sounds like Royce’s childhood best friend Jah Da 5′9″ might appear on the track too. He came up in Detroit with Royce but never had a serious career and he closes it out. UPDATE: Wasn’t Jah. Bugzy Bogart spit last, turning the chorus on its head with something so bleak and honest you might need to put your backpack on to swallow his words. A caveat to those who think they’re worth shit: “Never had a clue I wouldn’t be a rapper… I already got a 9-5, I just do it for fun… Nowadays I just can’t feel the same towards music.”
