Coathangers tour, release album on Black Lips label

{ }

Jeremy Krinsley | September 5, 2007

The Coathangers cop some of the vocal scream-cadences and messy riffs of their local friends Deerhunter and Black Lips, so it makes sense they're the first band to release a full length on Die Slaughterhaus, the Lips' homegrown label.

What they've got over their Atlanta friends is a live vocal attack on par with being clawed in the ears by cougars. Their recorded material might not be quite as vicious, but you can catch them this fall if you're in the mood for a sonic beatdown. They've just been featured on Burn to Shine, former Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty's ongoing project to document live shows in structures on the brink of demolition.
