Lucha VaVoom returned to NYC for a night of wrestling and burlesque at the Grand Ballroom at Webster Hall on Nov. 10. It's a clever mix of scrappy violence and swanky sensuality, heavy on the Vaudeville vibes.

Jonathan Toubin's usual selections played off well in the antique building, providing a bridge between the eras that influenced the show. The only reminder of actual time and place were a few typical drunk-on-seven-dollar-bud-light wrestling fans in the crowd that weren't having it - that and the presence of special guest Horatio Sanz, but that was a total afterthought. The legendary Julie Atlas Muz finished off the night with her famous dance routine, hearts exploding as the bubble popped.
