Rex Manning Day at Rough Trade NYC

Post Author: Ester Segretto

On Wednesday, April 8, Rough Trade NYC in Williamsburg, Brooklyn was turned into Empire Records in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the film, Empire Records. BBQ Films presented the event which featured a live performance by ARMS. There were also appearances by GWAR, actors Ethan Embry (Mark) and Johnny Whitworth (A.J.). The attendees were treated to a screening of the movie, and could shave off all of their hair like Debra did in the movie. A portion of the proceeds from the event went to Opening Act, a non profit organization that brings theater after school programs to New York City’s most under served public high schools. Photographer Ester Segretto documented the night for this gallery.

Twenty years later, we’re still damning the man and trying to save the Empire.
