Perhaps a year ago it would have been harder to imagine the robust, woolly noise-generation that These Are Powers embodied for their live shows pairing off with Telepathe's icy sequences, but Friday was a night of many little electronic boxes and accompanying drum sets, with Soft Circle and Teen Girl Fantasy both lining their share of circuits neatly on stage for what inevitably devolved into a no-stage dance party.

people post way less overflashed photos from at Market Hotel all the time, even tho the dimly lit conditions are always the same. there's too much flash in these photos, why does that make you defensive?
— georgianne on February 26, 2009
Anyone who says you should be shooting with less flash in a place as poorly lit as the Market needs to get real. Nice pics, Joe.

probably just get one of those $40 jello cups to soften it up a little.
— Joey P on February 25, 2009
I'm digging the photos. you captured what was a great night for me and friends really well.
— tesla on February 24, 2009
the shots are good, and I like what you did for color correction afterwards, but maybe try some colored filters over the flash?
— the internet on February 24, 2009
pics rule. these are powers have grown on me. good show.
— 1dove on February 23, 2009
Joe gets by with surprisingly little flash considering just how dark it is in Market. Great colors.

Pictures are great, they actually make Telepathe look good.
— Markus on February 23, 2009
God forbid someone wants to see who's next to them at the Market Hotel. So is Telepathe good live yet?
— Always Right on February 23, 2009
whatev photo dork, they look awesome
— disagreefull on February 23, 2009
I've seen a lot better results from less flash. I think these look totally washed out
— the internet on February 23, 2009
Always Right - No. the internet - Can we see your photos?
— qwhat on February 23, 2009
nice shots, but still way too much flash use in these photos. for these sorts of shows you really need a camera that can do low light situations
— the internet on February 23, 2009
I must admit, I just went out and bought the biggest fucking flash I could put on my camera and this was the first show I used it at. Tried to mix it up between my low light lens and w/o it and my zoom with it, but I did use the flash alot out of excitement to play with my new shit. I know whats its like to go to a show and be annoyed with constant blinding flash so hopefully I'll learn to be a little more conservative with it as I get the hang of it.
