Scout Paré-Phillips, Door Left Open

Post Author: Sophie Kemp

Scout Paré-Phillips‘ newest album Door Left Open is a invitation into a gorgeously melodramatic, goth world. Throughout the lengthy ten track album, we hear Paré Phillips go to new heights, each track showcasing the artist’s massive range as a vocalist and ability to infuse elements of folk, classical and alt rock. Paré Phillips sings in an operatic tone, not afraid to explore the darkest parts of her register, stringing together lines of music that are enveloping and romantic. With the addition of a string section as well as traditional rock instruments, Door Left Open proves itself to be a difficult to classify, multi genre endeavor, similar to the equally melodic work of artists like Marissa Nadler and Jesca Hoop.
