The Silver Hearts, Golden Favourites

The Silver Hearts recently released their first album in 10 years, the brilliantly produced Golden Favourites via Mudtown Records. Not ones to be outdone, The Silver Hearts have provided an 11 track piece that is incredibly engaging, beginning with “The Silver Hearts’ Theme”, which is an instrumental track that hosts an old time feel with a “radio” voiceover to lead in to it. Quickly following “Letter to The Editor” was originally revealed exclusively on IMPOSE, and this is what we think when we listen to it.

What is important to note is that Golden Favourites does is something we haven’t experienced for quite some time. It takes its audience on a robust, beautiful journey (i.e. “$100”) rife with gorgeous instrumentals (Note: “In The Pines” and “Hot Time”) that stick with you, uniquely delivered vocals (“One Kind Favour” and “St. James Infirmary Blues” are our favorites in this vein), and a warmth and honesty that only a very carefully crafted song can deliver. Not to mention that its the entire album that stops us in our tracks.

Overall, this album is a welcome escape from the troubles of current day, as it’s a beautiful testament to the music of yesteryear, molded quite well into an updated and fun sound.
