(Fresh Daily) Open Mike Eagle releases first single from Dark Comedy http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/open-mike-eagle-releases-first-single-from-dark-comedy Now that the ink has dried on Open Mike Eagle's three album deal with Mello Music Group, the promotional wheels for his upcoming Dark Comedy LP are in motion. Will this finally be the album that catapults Open Mike into recognition beyond a handful of blogs and magazines that faithfully and deservedly praise his artistic decisions? Will we finally stop specifying "art rap" and just recognize him as an artist or musician? This is what the big "it" for Open Mike feels like,... April 15, 2014 http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/open-mike-eagle-releases-first-single-from-dark-comedy Blake Gillespie (Scene and Heard) Fat White Family at The Acheron http://www.imposemagazine.com/photos/fat-white-family-at-the-acheron On Saturday, April 5th, UK band Fat White Family performed at The Acheron in Brooklyn, NY with support from The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger and Jeffrey Lewis. (Just Heard) The Hive Dwellers announce Moanin' LP http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/the-hive-dwellers-announce-moanin-lp The Hive Dwellers, a Calvin Johnson-fronted project, recently announced their sophomore album, Moanin'. Recorded in Dub Narcotic Studio (aka the cathedral of K Records) in Olympia, Moanin' is a collection of homegrown twee that celebrates the nuances of its quiet town ("Streets of Olympia Town"), while exploring the Americana twang that stretches across the nation's plains. Comprised of Mr. Johnson, Gabriel Will, and Evan Hashi, The Dwellers debuted with Hewn From The Wild... April 15, 2014 http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/the-hive-dwellers-announce-moanin-lp Blake Gillespie (Say Hello) Introducing Tredici Bacci, a 14-piece collective directed by Guerilla Toss' Simon Hanes http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/guerilla-toss-side-project-tredici-bacci Sometimes it’s easy to forget the versatility and talent of musicians when you associate them with a particular genre or band. So imagine the surprise of this editorial intern (unpaid!) when he read the first sentence of this press release from NNA Tapes: “Tredici Bacci is a 14-piece group of young musicians from Boston, Massachusetts under the impressive orchestral direction of Simon ‘Luxardo’ Hanes, perhaps best known for his madman bass playing in Guerilla Toss." ... April 15, 2014 http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/guerilla-toss-side-project-tredici-bacci Zack Wilks (Scuzz) Las Robertas, "Marlene" http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/las-robertas-marlene-mp3 We last heard from Costa Rican trio Las Robertas' way back in 2012 on their Art Fag Recordings 7" Dissected Affair, the followup to their debut aLP, Cry Out Loud. We're sure they've been playing down under, but now we have sonic evidence via their new track "Marlene" off upcoming LP Days Unmade. "Marlene" suggests they've been putting the two years to good use, perfecting a fuzzed-up studio psych sound in the spirit of pop. Following it up, they've released the second single, "Eurydice," a similarly upbeat pleaser with a retro studio sound fit for a Brat Pack teen movie. The song references a much darker story though—in Greek Mytho... April 15, 2014 http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/the-pains-of-being-pure-at-heart-eurydice Caitlin Greene (Shot by the Band) Three states with Jess Williamson and RF Shannon http://www.imposemagazine.com/photos/jess-williamson-and-rf-shannon-tour-photos Musician and photographer, Jess Williamson, went on tour in February 2014 with RF Shannon (who also served as her backing band) to places in California, Texas and Arizona for about two weeks. (Debut) Awning, "Mistaken Tendency" http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/awning-mistaken-tendency-mp3 Brooklyn's Awning is comprised of the duo Jon Sheldrick and Luke Smith, who have just released their album Two Against Me. Following up a series of remixes and EPs from recent months and years, their new album finds Jon and Luke combining the places where rural, acoustic countryside song composition is met with the slight but somehow natural elegance of electronic effects and urban accompaniment. The sound of the big city meeting the farmland can be heard from the digital percussion and prod... April 15, 2014 http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/awning-mistaken-tendency-mp3 Sjimon Gompers
