Premiere: Blanche Blanche Blanche, “That's The Ad”

Blanche Blanche Blanche put out this new video this morning with the intent of just throwing it up on their YouTube, seeing what happened, and never speaking of it again. When we wrangled them to give us some answers, they were less than enthused about what we were asking, but gave us some interesting insights despite it all. With the video being shot and directed by Joey Pizza Slice with a melee of found footage and pushed-together images, its an unsettling and effective visual accompaniment to the track "That's The Ad".

It was constructed all on an iPhone, how do you think it contributes to the rejectionist lyrics in the song? What is the found footage attempting to convey?

Sarah: Even if that were true they wouldn't have anything to do with each other. even if the song were some sort of anti-advertising whatever, an iPhone wouldn't contradict that anymore than any other item would.

Zach: Yeah, and that would be an item we wouldn't want to use.

Joey, director, re: the footage: I don't have time for this.

What is the new album accomplishing? How does this video and song add to the fuller ideas of the album?

Adam: It's the new one. that's what it accomplishes.

Zach: Would you say the album is a coming of age story?

Sarah: Yeah, for Adam.

Zach: Does Colin come of age in this story?

Sarah: Fuller than what?

What was it like for you to do the full band in a studio? Did that take away from or add to your development within BBB?

Quentin: We set our sights really high, almost up to the top of the horizon, and then we just started going crazy in the studio. I guess we must have gone really crazy, because when we came out it was already morning—three days from now! the haze, the blue ash . . .

Zach: There are developers in every industry. once you develop into a full blown industry rep like Quentin here, you know how to handle yourself in the studio rush. There's a lot of hustle and bustle I don't know how he does it with.

Jo: Everyone please go to http://www.iamsalt.com and sign up for the mailing list. if I get 500,000 votes I can donate my entire salt content to iodine-depleted coral reefs.

Blanche Blanche Blanche's Breaking Mirrors releases on Wharf Cat Records on November 5.
