Cakes Da Killa Does VR Video for New Song

Immersive, interactive VR technology is everywhere—including Hip-Hop. Cakes Da Killa recently took advantage of the cutting edge tech for his “Been Dat Did That” video. The video, co-directed by Mark Levato and Gella Zefira, showcases Cakes rhyming in what looks to be a dark, futuristic club setting as dancers around him groove to the track’s frenetic production.

The 360 degree video fits the uptempo vibe of the song, which is a single from Cakes’ debut LP Hedonism. The soundscape fuses hip-hop with Baltimore club elements, as is becoming Cakes’ signature style. Churning 808 production and playful sound effects chirp in and out of the 4 minute track. The constant changes in the beat provide a formidable challenge for the dancers, but thanks to the unique format of the video, we can run it back and focus on each. I’m sure Cakes wouldn’t mind the extra views.
