Constant Deviants Offer a “Straight No Chaser” Freestyle

Freestyling is becoming a lost art amongst modern rappers, but there are still some who strongly uphold the Hip-Hop tradition, namely New York duo Constant Deviants. Fresh off the June release of their Omerta album, the two-man crew of Baltimore rapper M.I. and New Jersey producer DJ Cutt created a freestyle video series called “Tre Volte,” and today they are premiering “Straight No Chaser,” the final installment

The duo’s 2-minute clip takes it back to the MC, DJ and turntable essence, as M.I. unleashes his gritty rhymes over a dreamy breakbeat. “Connected in the underworld and I ain’t never use a favor,” M.I. spits, a foreign concept in a world of begging inbox raiders.

The completion of the “Tre Volte” trilogy is one achievement in a special week for M.I. The video release coincides with the upcoming debut of the film Six2Six, in which he starred in. The movie will be screened at the Hip-Hop Film Festival in Harlem on Friday.
