Dylan Ettinger, "Wintermute" Video by Melissa Cha
Is this video a parable for, like, modern society or something? Bloomington, Indiana's Dylan Ettinger released this for his song "Wintermute", and it's quite beautiful, with mirrored dancers and black-and-white sexual creepshows and the back of a young man in different spaces. But when you really stop and think about it: Why is the man lying inert, on the ground, while the woman does the boomtown shuffle over his lazy, lazy body? Why does she dance by herself? Why are those breasts wearing suspenders? What does it all mean? Is the woman working on the relationship while the man does nothing? Has the woman entranced the man into doing nothing? Who are these people, and why do they thong dance all through the night?
So many questions. "Wintermute" will be available on Ettinger's new record on Not Not Fun, Life of Romance.
