Electric Eye, “Mercury Rise”

A distinct path within a psychedelic dream.

Bergen, Norway’s Electric Eye, who we first heard from during a Week in Pop roundup, are about to release their second album, Different Sun, and have clued us into their constantly-shifting psychedelic vision for the lead single, “Mercury Rise.” A riff-and-vamp-heavy trip through a harmonic landscape shimmering with organ drone and catchy garage choruses (that never forgets the rhythmic foundation necessary for such spatial exploration), “Mercury Rise” never meanders aimlessly, instead choosing to follow a distinct, if not oblique, path to the horizon.

Different Sun will be available on Jansen Plateproduksjon on February 5, 2016.
