New York State based folk pop songwriter Emilyn Brodsky is set to release her latest album Emilyn Brodsky’s Digestion on October 14th via Dead Stare Records. Although “You Read Me Wrong” was originally written circa 2004 and has been played live many times over the years, this is the first recording she has released of it. We have the exclusive premiere of the stop motion music video for the track right here.
The song itself is tranquil, with a vintage 50’s doo-wop feel to it. Emilyn’s beautiful vocals are unapologetic, as she croons, “I know what I meant, and I meant what I said… You read me wrong.” The video is a stellar stop motion animation of the insides of her body – as she explains below – animated expertly by artist Hailey Wojcik between shots of what looks to be her hands typing the lyrics to a typewriter. It’s fun, interesting, and part one of a three part series.

This one is a glance into the inner-workings of my sensitive digestion; which includes teeth, witch fingers, and weeping pussies. Conveniently, my intestines happen to spell out the lyrics to the chorus of my song ‘You Read Me Wrong’ – who woulda known? BODIES ARE MIRACULOUS. I LOVE THEM. You also get to watch me type a letter on my Royal Quiet Deluxe, you lucky duck. This letter is to everyone and anyone I’ve ever had a miscommunication with, so, if you’re one of those people, this is the letter I’ve been meaning to get to you – sorry for the delay.”
