Gloom Balloon, "Drying the Eyes of the Goddess of Gloom"

Post Author: Ian Schneider

The first single off of Gloom Balloon‘s sophomore LP Drying the Eyes of the Goddess of Gloom, Underneath the Stars and the Moon, a track called “Drying the Eyes of the Goddess of Gloom” provides an intriguing sound and is accompanied by an even more intriguing music video.  Gloom Balloon is Patrick Tape Fleming, an ex-indie rock troubadour, who uses this project to express his feelings regarding his faith in love and affection.  “Drying the Eyes of the Goddess of Gloom” is the perfect embodiment of Gloom Balloon has in store for this upcoming LP, and the visuals are perfect for the situation Fleming is in emotionally.

Fleming is shown singing to the viewer in a grassy area with a carousel in the background.  Fleming spends his time dancing, riding the carousel, and playing props that have ties to the lyrics he is belting.  The song has a very 50s/60s sounding beat, with piano and a backup chorus providing this vibe.  With a whaling guitar solo to pull it all together, “Drying the Eyes of the Goddess of Gloom” is the perfect ballad to introduce this new LP to the masses.
Drying the Eyes of the Goddess of Gloom, Underneath the Stars and the Moon is available September 1st via Maximum Ames Records. For more information about Gloom Balloon, you can visit http://gloomballoon.com/.
