High Places might be living the dream on Thrill Jockey, but the duo still employ a DIY-mentality by shooting the video for "Altos Lugares" themselves. The track resides on the fringes of acid-house influence, which is suitable for a video of trippy desert wanderings. The location is Spahn Ranch where Charles Manson and the Family once lived, while the swimming scene was shot in South Jersey a night. The visual tricks bring to mind the splitting of souls or fractured astral projections, which is a dangerous concept in evil places like Spahn Ranch and Jersey.
High Places' Original Colors is out October 11 on Thrill Jockey.
