Lizard Kisses, “In the Morning”

Post Author: NM Mashurov

Lizard Kisses songs always sound a little like the space between waking and sleep. “In the Morning” is such a song, and the accompanying video, directed by Alice Cohen, is such a video – dreamlike collages of deserts, forests, antiquated astronomies and victorian bodies floating through a cosmos inhabited by bedframes and butterflies. It’s a warm mix of wistfulness and nostalgia for the present moment—trying to hold onto a dream even as it slips through the sieve of memory.

Lizard Kisses is a New York duo made up of Cory Siegler and Marc Merza. “In the Morning”, due out as a 7″ on Bleeding Gold Records, was recorded with Jordan Lee of Mutual Benefit after a Vermont tour with Mutual Benefit and Florist, and mixed with Calvin Johnson at K Records. The 7″ will also feature collaborations with Dan Goldberg (The Spookfish), John Hunter, and Michael Clifford (Mutual Benefit).
