Mount Kimbie, “You Took Your Time (feat. King Krule)”

One-upping Vampire Weekend's vehicular arson.

July 2, 2013

English electronic duo Mount Kimbie released a fantastic new record at the end of May called Cold Spring Fault Less, and we may be biased, but the track featuring companion countryman King Krule is by far its best contribution. "You Took Your Time" is melancholic, jazzy track that gets haunted by a simple, icy backbeat and King Krule's accented singing. The video, which is being presented as a short film by Marcus Sonderland, shows black-and-white scenes from Tilbury in Essex and its tone matches exactly the low, affecting minor chords of the song itself. A scene that exhibits a fancy Audi burning is the ballsier edition of Vampire Weekend burning a vintage Saab, so let's ignite the VW-MK beef right here and right now.
