Odette is a 19-year-old singer-songwriter hailing from Sydney’s inner west. She signed to EMI Music Australia at just 17 and has spent the last two years crafting her debut album. She’s already caught  the eye of an impressive list of big producers and songwriters including Charlie Hugall (Florence and the Machine, Ed Sheeran), Jason Cox (Blur, Gorillaz, Jamie T), Alex Hope (Troye Sivan, Broods) and Paul Mac (The Dissociatives, Silverchair) – all of whom clamoured to work with her over the past year and a half. “Processing emotion is a common theme throughout a lot of my songs,” explains Odette, “Music has been a way for me to discuss and kind of analyze emotions and things from a different perspective, rather than just feeling it.” Odette’s songs are deeply personal and see her move from spoken word into warm, soulful vocals, with arrangements circling soul, jazz and pop. The complex and clever cinematography for the video “Watch Me Read You”, adds to the feelings already being explained by her sweet and passionate voice, it’s a very potent single.
