Premiere: Paranthetical Girls, “For All The Final Girls”

By: Maria Sherman

Portland, Oregon pop dramatists Parenthetical Girls have been busy. An extensive tour (can you believe they still aren’t back from SXSW?) and a series of music video documentaries, there appears to be no real end in sight. Yet despite their hectic schedule, they’ve found the time to give us permission to debut their latest film endeavor, a beautiful visual depiction of the single, “For All the Final Girls.”

They write:

“In a special collaboration with Portland-based video production company IntoTheWoods.tv, the group Parenthetical Girls present a four-part documentary, which finds the group traveling to a series of strange and wondorous locations in and around their home of Portland, OR to celebrate the release of their forthcoming album, Privilege.”

This was Part One. Two.

(It’s important to note that Privilege was originally released as a series of EPs, each a limited release, each depicting a hand-drawn image of a member of the band, each numbered in that members blood.)

The video depicts the band on an abandoned carousel during what appears to be a cold, rainy day: all parts dizzyingly haunting and bleakly romantic.
