PROM, “Flickers”

Amelia Pitcherella

Brooklyn’s Ella Zoller and Gabriel Stanley call themselves PROM, and they’ve just released their debut EP, full of electropop tunes with driving drum machine beats and drawn-out vocals. The name would be incredibly fitting if you cut out the high school awkwardness and left the glamor intact.

Fans of wide, sweeping arrangements and wide-open, natural landscapes get the best of both worlds from PROM. Their video for “Flickers” takes us into a dreamy parallel universe of slow-motion shots of Zoller jumping into in a body of water, leaping through sun-drenched fields, and darkened woods, all in perfect sync with the music. The colors are vivid and the cinematography is as astonishing and satisfying as the song, which features Stanley’s smooth voice over big, blipping synths, and Zoller’s sighing vocals.

PROM’s Keeping Company EP is out now on Crazy Heart Records. You can stream it here.
