Rhinefarm Session: The Blank Tapes performs “Candy”

During last year’s Huichica Festival, a two-day folk and indie festival nestled in the Sonoma wine country of Northern California, artists roamed the Gundlach Bundschu estate playing intimate takes of songs in what became the Rhinefarm Sessions.

Matt Adams of The Blank Tapes found a grove to take out his notebook and perform “Candy”, a track that does not appear to be pulled from one of his 19 releases under the moniker. Adams’ tale in “Candy” personifies the sweet while addressing that it’s still bad for you. It’s not exactly the same Candy that Lou Reed once encountered, but she’s found herself in predicaments that suggest a vicious cycle.

Expect plenty of tranquil moments like this at Huichica this year with performances by Atlas Sound, Amen Dunes, Allah-Las, The Fresh and Onlys, Jessica Pratt, Sonny and the Sunsets, Shannon and the Clams, and Pure Bathing Culture.

Huichica Festival is June 12 and 13. Tickets for Huichica start at $40 for Friday, $55 for Saturday and $85 for both days. Tickets are available now via Ticketfly.
