Saro, "Looking"

As LA-based artist Saro, AKA Evan Windom, notes in his new single “Looking,” “love is pain.” The track, written from the perspective of one of his exes, is a complicated reflection on love lost, but Saro doesn’t let grief define the record. On the gorgeous single and Stormi Bree Hemley-directed video, he imagines taking a therapeutic, “better to have loved and lost” approach to mending such pain.

The visual especially accentuates the grace of “Looking,” as theatrical shots of Saro meditating solemnly in a field alternate with his gentle underwater gyrations. A rough breakup is much like being forcefully engulfed in the cool waters Saro waded through in the video, yet as the serene soundscape plays on, he’s resigned to go forth. By the end of the video he’s joyously running through what looks like an arboretum, holding flowers and pleading, “I hope you find what you’re looking for.”

Saro has more for his fans to look forward to on his debut EP In Loving Memory, which was released last December on his own Mateo Sound label. You can listen on Spotify or Apple Music. He will also be performing at SXSW on the 17th and 18th.
