Small Culture, “Who We R” ft. Megan Lake

San Diego’s kaleidoscope indie music project Small Culture is the insanely beautiful work of brainchild Jerik Centeno, who produces, records, and mixes the music himself. His self-titled EP was released earlier this year, the songs well-received for their immaculate composition. “Directed by Benjamin Howard, ‘Who We R ft. Megan Lake’ is a song about a rebellious secret my best friends and I share from our high school days,” admits Centeno. We’ve got the video premiere for that single right now.

Headlights at night through a wire fence open the video, slow piano as the backdrop. A plane taking off, and then shots of a couple on the west coast. Fighting, gallivanting, being young and in love. Different shots show direct contrast between a contemplative, alone, and saddened subject and his (presumably) former days in love. The song is melancholy, and so is the video, gorgeously shot and edited.
