Sydney Ranee’ Shares Video For “You Could”, Talks Writing on a Cruise Ship

Post Author: Emily Chu

Sydney Ranee‘ is a singer/songwriter/producer from Los Angeles, but she’s performed all over the world, including places like Italy, Singapore, and Greece, just to name a few. If you haven’t heard of her already, you should definitely check her out. She’s recently released her music video for her latest single, “You Could.”

The video takes place solely on the beach. The sun is setting, with the ocean approaching and receding in the background. It looks like a gorgeous, warm day. Ranee’ is dancing and singing on the sand. Her voice is pure, strong, and power. Her lyrics and her dance moves are seductive with a sultry feel. She’s owning the beach as she’s lost in her own world, singing her heart out.

I also had the chance to talk to Sydney and ask her a few question about herself and her music.

Tell me about yourself.
I’m from Los Angeles but I’ve lived almost all over the world. I’m a singer on a cruise ship and I travel at least seven months out of the year. Growing up in Los Angeles I’ve had the opportunity to perform at various venues and casinos around town even though most places I was too young to enter. I love music and I try to incorporate it someway in my daily lifestyle.
What was your process behind You Could?
I wrote You Could and the other two songs that are on the EP titled “You Could” while on the cruise ship. I lived in a tiny cabin probably the size of most people’s closet. I set up my mac book and used Logic Pro and my usb microphone to make the demo. Then I hired musicians and booked time at Blue Dreams Studio and brought the songs to life.
Do you have any pre-show rituals?
My preshow ritual consists of listening to some of my favorite artists or sometimes watching YouTube videos. See how they interact with the audience and listen to their banter.  I also say a prayer before I hit the stage.
What’s your favorite part about performing?
My favorite part about performing is being able to touch someone with my voice. Telling a story that someone in the audience may relate to. I also like that gives me a chance to get dolled up.
If you were a food item, what would you be and why?

If I were a food I would be guacamole. Everyone loves guacamole. You can’t just have a little bit you have to consume large amounts.
What’s up next for you?
I’m planning on releasing the rest of the EP later this month as well as dropping a music video for the second single titled 17.
