The Powder Room, “Syncophant”

Georgia’s rock trio The Powder Room is gearing up to release their latest album, Lucky, on October 14th. In anticipation of it, we’ve got the video for their single “Syncophant” right here.

“The song is played on a pair of bass VIs which is not a very common aesthetic in the world of popular/unpopular rock music,” elaborates Gene. “‘Sycophant’ is probably the closest we’ll ever get to writing a formulaic single. The video was directed by our friend Ethan Payne and shot in the Caledonia Lounge in Athens; a place where I spend most of my nights as a live sound engineer. We wanted to keep it very plain and simple to give the uninitiated an idea of what to expect from our live show: fog, lights, sweat, and excessive volume.”

And it is simple, yet intriguing. It’s a very artfully shot live performance video, flooded in blues and purples. The utilization of a smoke machine escalates the song to an even more extreme rock atmosphere. This video definitely gets us excited to watch them perform live when they pass through.

Lucky is out on October 14th. It is available for preorder now.
