Bent Shapes, “Behead Yrself, Pt. 2”

Straight-up pop, no matter how you shake it, stretch it, move it, or maneuver it, is the greatest and most upfliting kind of music to listen to when you're feeling blue. With each life-affirming, up-tempo delivery in the pop genre, I'm finding new and different ways to smile, from my bluest day to my happiest. Boston's Bent Shapes contribute the latest edition in my relationship with smiling with their track “Behead Yrself, Pt. 2”. It's the easiest, most joyful listen I've heard in months and the label they're releasing their debut album with, Father/Daughter Records, continues to bring us hit after hit of solid, well-adjusted, friendly pop tunes of the garage, psych, indie, and bedroom genres. It's a wonder that I didn't just dream up Father/Daughter and this is all part of my imagination. The band is equal parts Ted Leo, Dismemberment Plan, and Camera Obscura, all with a garagey edge.

Bent Shapes have an album coming out on August 20 called Feels Weird, and the only thing that feels weird about that is the fact that I have to wait until the end of the summer to hear it. Stream “Behead Yrself, Pt. 2” below and check out Bent Shapes when they come to your town. Preorder the full record here.
