LA artist/director/designer/phenomenon phem started off 2018 with a Week in Pop guest selection curation as she outlined a comprehensive plan to reassert herself as one of the world’s hardest working & dominant artists/icons/visionaries. The transition from her group Liphemra to Liv Marsico the solo artist under the moniker of phem has seen the Los Angeles artist collaborating with artists like Fat Tony, G-Eazy, Gnash, Robokid & more with an inspired passion that indicates no sign of slowing. Working with producer Rogét on the anticipated EP can’t kill me, phem is out to show the haters what’s up while celebrating with the friends & fam that have been there since day one.
The can’t kill me EP is a personal testament to resilience & a unique creative process that forever expounds upon the human experience as being a continuous work of art in progress. The lauded single “Blinders” finds Liv reflecting on her own sexual fluidity & the journey of grappling with an identity that exist outsides the conventions & expectations of others. Creating on her own terms, the histories & notes on process are all over the new EP like on “don’t giv up on me yet” that spans pensive thoughts that run all the way back to the beginning of Liv’s career to the present in a statement that shows that this is only the beginning. And at the heart of it all, phem focuses on the human experience that is all too real, upfront & honest on “gimme the wall” that walks through life’s dubious situations & the urges to be removed from them. Focuses on feelings & all the emotions that arise are exhibited in an atmospheric honesty that oscillates between a certain numbness—to the experiences of feeling all the feels at one time. In phem’s own words:

My duty is to be a voice—if that’s what I can do then I’m gonna do it.
