Follow the spinning wheel into the depths of Cuckoo Chaos’ new single, “Super Skeleton.” Available on vinyl as well as the typical digital download, “Super Skeleton” swims below the surface with the calm of a practiced diver, navigating undulating waves of rhythm with the confident lyric: “I’ll find my way to you.” The San Diego quintet dip into the unexpected when they start to shred, but even some classic wah-wah guitar is carefully folded into the song’s seamless sanctuary.
Jazzy and exotic, the single’s b-side, “Shanghaied” builds on a similar mellow vibe, founded on echoes and dreams. Give me some Cuckoo Chaos and free my soul…these California sons make it all too easy to drift away.
