Earache Records turns 20

Post Author:

Ok, so yesterday we told you that Stax turned 50, and while in no way does Earache compare to the old soul grail, it is still worth noting that the label who brought us Napalm Death, Carcass, Morbid Angel, Bolt Thrower, Godflesh, Entombed, Naked City, Brutal Truth, Clutch, Pitchshifter, Anal Cunt, Coalesce, At the Gates, Cathedral, The Berzerker, Deicide, Candiria has turned 20.

Napalm Death performing “Scum”

To commemorate this occasion, they will of course re-issue Napalm Death's classic record Scum. While we're a bit perplexed as to why they're not re-issuing the less than classic The Return of Martha Splatterhead, by The Accused (the label's first official release), it is common knowledge that Napalm Death paved the way for Earache.

The Scum re-issue will feature a bonus documentary DVD, and be followed on April with a box set with over 100 tracks from the Earache Catalog. The Metal: A Headbanger's Companion box set is to be released on April 6 and plans in the works to work in
conjunction with a print publication to release an exclusive comprehensive booklet with sampler CD as well.
