Eskimeaux, “I Admit I’m Scared”

Eskimeaux o.k.

It takes a lot of bravery to voice your emotions and make yourself vulnerable. We know this by now. The more neurotic among us also know it also takes a lot of internal back-and-forth, and a whole lot of second-guessing. On “I Admit I’m Scared”, Eskimeaux untangles an anxiety spiral wound around disclosure and silence. Gabrielle Smith switches between “everything I think should be buried in the ground” and “everything I said spewed like sparklers from my mouth” as Felix Walworth’s drumming gets more and more urgent and the song builds to its screaming catharsis, momentarily finding a way to make it through the wall.

O.K. is out May 12 on Double Double Whammy.
