Goat Girl – “Sad Cowboy”

London indie rockers announce sophomore LP & share dreamy, marauding lead single

One of our favorite up-and-coming acts Goat Girl are on the prowl again, just over two years after releasing their stunning debut LP of swaggering, psych-tinged indie rock. Today they’ve announced their highly anticipated follow-up album On All Fours, which is set to arrive January 29 of next year via Rough Trade. They’ve also shared that album’s lead single and video, the dreamy and marauding “Sad Cowboy.”

Once again, Goat Girl delivers a moody sonic swirl of gritty guitar riffs and haunting vocals, with perhaps a slightly added dose of clanging percussion and celestial, cosmic-reaching synthesizers. Singer Lottie Cream’s brooding voice cuts through the track’s uptempo rhythmic kick and offbeat chord progressions – another mesmerizing and poignant standout from the fast-rising London quartet.

“‘Sad Cowboy’ centers around the idea of losing a grip on reality and how often this can happen,” they shared. “When you’re within a world that constantly makes you feel as though you’re living out a really bad dream, disillusionment is inevitable.”
