Groundislava, “Suicide Mission” feat. Baths

Kerri O'Malley

Groundislava, Feel Me

In anticipation of his lecherously titled Feel Me LP, Jasper Patterson pka Groundislava, the co-founder of the Wedidit collective, and newly knighted word combination king has released a new track, “Suicide Mission,” featuring his friend and former schoolmate, Baths.

In the single, Baths sings so high he sounds destined to tear the sky, his voice walking a razor’s edge with calculated steps. Caught in the kind of hopes and dreams that make you want to hug a grown man to your chest, Baths sings of going “out to go get myself hurt.” Patterson cuts this beautiful and somewhat precarious vocal performance with clear punching beats, both grounding the song and adding to the intrigue, swirling in some swishing sounds that drown out all else and bee-doo-booping it up with some old school gaming beeps and whistles.

All I can say is: I feel you, buddy.

Feel Me is due out August 28th on Friends of Friends.
