Jackie Paladino, “Rescue Me”

Post Author:

Brooklyn’s soul pop artist Jackie Paladino isn’t one to shy away from controversial and taboo topics. This holds especially true with her latest single, which she admits was written during a dark time in her life while struggling with an eating disorder. We have the exclusive premiere of that track, “Rescue Me”, right here.

A strong, beautiful piano intro, quickly leading into Paladino’s gorgeous, deep vocals. Right off the bat, she weaves an intensely personal narrative – presented in the third person – about a girl and her struggles. Lyrics like “There’s a girl I know looks in the mirror each day / She don’t like what she sees and wants to wash it away / Mistakes, regret, battle wounds, and defeat / She dreams of a prince to sweep her off her feet / And she cries rescue me, won’t you rescue me? / Somebody rescue me, won’t you rescue me?” are deeply emotional, and will cut to the core of even the most hardened of hearts.

We all have our struggles and deep wounds. Be cognizant of others.

Keep up with Jackie here.
