Jimmy Whoo, "Outro (My High)"

Post Author: Andre G

When you follow the indie scene, you become accustomed to artists releasing stellar work then falling off the map for a bit. That was the case for Paris-born electronic producer Jimmy Whoo, who’s finally releasing a followup to his 2015 Motel Music Part I album with Motel Music Part II. Whoo has dropped two songs from the nine track album, “Cruisin’” and the recently released “Outro (My High).”
It’s a bit unusual for an outro to be released as a single, but Whoo’s worked to defy convention with his experimental sound since his 2013 Chambre 51 project. “Outro (My High)” is a brooding composition framed around alluring synths, methodical pacing, and a mysterious, murky vocal sample repeating the same “you are my heart” chant.
Whoo masterfully melded pulsating and soaring synths around thumping 808s drums. The contrast between the rapidly moving melody and steady percussion is one of the track’s highlights, and serves as another strong preview of what’s to come on Motel Music II, due March 17th on Grande Ville Records. You can pre-order the project here.
