Lotus, “Fly”

Post Author:

After forming just six months ago after a chance online meeting, Electronic duo Lotus wants to push the boundaries. When I spoke to producers Ryan and Manu, they noted “most Electronic music sounds very similar these days.” With every composition the group crafts, they set out to make a sonic outlier. Lotus recently released “Fly,” a record that, given their name, might confuse some readers with the LA Electronic stalwart.

However, the dynamism of the two-minute track showcases that the team is marking their own territory in the electronic scene. The group, who have both been making music for about three years, note via e-mail that they set out to fuse “organic instruments” into the soundscape. Job well done. The track rides a fluttery, cascading synth and lush melodies to provide a refined, almost elegant experience. Even the powerful horns aren’t rabid as much as they’re firm and smoothly integrated with the enchanting strings.

“Fly” is a wonderfully layered, expertly mixed composition from Lotus. You can take a listen below.
