Main Attrakionz awaken SF hip hop

Oakland has Lil' B and The Pack, as well as a slew of honorably discharged hyphy rappers, but The City remains stagnant after the senectitude of the Heiro crew. Sure, a few transplants such as Aesop Rock and Fist Fam live there, but San Francisco is more of a backdrop than a part of their personality.

Yourstru.ly recently traveled to South of Market to interview Squadda B and Mondre M.A.N of Main Attrakionz for its The Neighborhood series, putting the spotlight on a duo who are influenced by the blogosphere's chillwave and cut/copy techniques as opposed to the dead horse that is “real hip hop”. Hearing the group speak on its necessity to create rap and continue to make it without day jobs makes tracks like “Young As Fuck Pt. II” all the better.

Main Attrakionz released the Blackberry Ku$h mixtape in April, which is easily one of the freshest tapes of the year and would have made our Best Of list for April, sitting just below fellow Nor Cal hip hop group Death Grips.

Blackberry Ku$h is available here for $5 U.S.
