Patricia, “Drip Dawn”

Post Author:

Patricia is a ghost. You can’t find anything on the internet about the elusive beat maker except that he (?) hails from Chicago, is now in Brooklyn, and has an upcoming EP out on Spectral Sound. The music itself sounds like an afterlife club banger, a Top 20 hit for the dearly departed. Take the lead track “Drip Dawn,” for instance. Digital sludge trails a heart-beating bass, and it’s supremely danceable, but in the way that the repetitive thump of a body going splat on pavement could be danceable: you want to move, but you feel a little bit fucked up actually doing so. No matter, that’s kind of the point. Patricia’s new EP, a four-track effort titled Side Piece EP, is out August 25.
