PC Worship, “Like A Sponge”

PC Worship, Beat Punk

PC Worship has new record, you punk bitches. The Brooklyn bottom dwellers are tearing down the drywall on “Like A Sponge” with an offbeat jam that puts the odd in odyssey. Operating as a constant is an unsettling jangle that already stirs feelings of unease. It's magnified by a anxious lick that at first almost sounds mouthed rather than plucked. Come to think of it, maybe it was played with someone's teeth – the old floss lick. The “like a sponge” refrain is almost comical compared to the sound, as this feels like everything you don't want absorbing into your skin and makes your nerves crawl. And yet, we can't wait to pick up the arm and drop the needle back on the groove leading into “Like A Sponge” when our copy of Beat Punk arrives.

We've also got a stream of “Back In Time”, which has the sultans of sludgy skronk playing at a methed-up pace. We're fairly certain this is the fastest PC Worship song ever written. The multi-tracked vocals make “Back In Time” sound like a heroin addict serenading his dearest needle. It's very difficult to feel as though Justin Frye is being a sweetheart in his proclamations of wanting to spend time with a special someone when its delivered from a mountain of sludge.
