Pupppy, “Or Maybe We’re Not”

Post Author:

Pupppy are a wide-eyed rock group from Purchase, NY who want you to let go of self-doubt. “It’s easy to stay scared, not dive into something new, and play it safe,” says singer Will Rutledge, asked to explain the title of the band’s debut full-length, Shit In the Apple Pie, out this month on Father/Daughter. “But that’s shitting in the apple pie, because you’re not allowing yourself to enjoy life by acknowledging the inherent value of growth in the painful and daunting parts.” The sentiment rings out on the uptempo “Or Maybe We’re Not”, an endearingly melodramatic mini-ode to embracing vulnerability. “The whole album is pretty much about accepting regrets,” Rutledge adds. “And realizing that while reflection and truly letting oneself feel pain and grief is undoubtedly necessary to being a person, letting yourself drown in mistakes and regrets is time wasted and a good pie ruined.” The song stream is below, as well as all of Puppy’s upcoming shows, which include dates with Pile, Crying, and Alex G.
