Rothstein, GRACE

Post Author: Andre G

Cambridge, MA artist Rothstein is almost done crafting his HIGH WATER project, but the burgeoning rhymer has been steadily feeding us with smaller projects in the meantime. After turning a chance Facebook message into a dope collaboration with fellow Cambridge artist Gabe Gill on LEMONS, Rothstein recently released another 2-tracker with GRACE. The Dojo Records signee continues to deliver his near one-of-a-kind hip-hop and R&B fusion that places as much care on lyrical dexterity and bare poetics as catchy melody.
There’s still plenty of the latter on the project, most notably on the glittery “Tessie,” a poignant portrait of a lost love. Continuing a trend that has and will likely continue to serve him well, he worked with the same producer on GRACE. This time BLVC SVND provided the sonics, a sultry blend of sentimental melody and sharp 808 programming ripe for the kind of flexing Rothstein does on “Grace,” where he also surmises, “if you walkin’ on ice then you might as well dance.”
Rothstein must have a light step, because he’s getting wherever he wants to go sonicay and taking us with him. You can stream GRACE below, and purchase here.
